Boom Presentation Setup Guide

How Boom Works

Boom turns screen shares into screen shows. Instead of showing a separate screen, your content flows directly through your video feed with you in it. Think presenter overlays, smooth transitions, and polished layouts—all coming through your camera as one seamless video stream. That's why getting your video settings dialed in is so important for crisp, professional-looking presentations.

When to Use Boom Present

Boom Present works best for big, clear visuals where your audience needs to focus on key ideas rather than tiny text or detailed dashboards.

For Smaller Text or Product UIs

Use Cinematic Zoom to highlight details:

  • Use ⌃ ⌘ Z to zoom into any part of your content and again to zoom out

  • Alternatively click on the magnifier icon on the Boom remote 🔍

  • Perfect for product demos or showing fine details

Mobile Device Sharing

You can share your iPhone or iPad screens with a stylish frame around them:

  • Connect your device via cable to your computer

  • Select your iOS device from the screen picker

  • Your mobile screen will appear with an attractive device frame

General Best Practices

  • Pin yourself so your audience can focus on you and your content

  • Ensure you have a solid internet connection

  • For multiple tabs, pull them out as separate windows and share each window individually

Platform-Specific Settings

Video Mirroring Issues

  • Google Meet: Your content might appear mirrored to you, but it displays correctly for your audience

  • Zoom: Turn off mirroring in Video Settings > Video & Effects > uncheck "Mirror my video"

  • Virtual backgrounds: Disable blur effects and virtual backgrounds in Meet/Zoom (use Boom's features instead)
